IP Video Surveillance Technology for Prison Security
Billerica, MA, USA – Minuteman Security Technologies installs one of the largest and most advanced IP video surveillance systems in the US for the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.
The awarded contract called for Minuteman to design and install an IndigoVision digital IP video surveillance system
at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction. The fully
installed system consists of over 400 IP cameras that
transmit images to multiple “virtual matrix switch”
command & control video workstations. The contract also
included the installation of a Gigabit Ethernet backbone
that serves as the primary IP video network throughout the
facility.

Advance compression techniques allow high quality IP
video images to be stored on Network Video Recorders (NVR) for an undisclosed “ long periods of time” and because of its low bandwidth utilization, the IndigoVision system will also have the capability to transmit live video off-site using a wireless broadband network.
Following an exhaustive technology assessment and bidding process of a variety of digital IP video solutions, the Minuteman & IndigoVision solution was chosen for its “best technology value”. Unlike conventional analog video system, the new scalable system will give the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office the capability virtually unlimited expansion.
